Day 4, and still blogging (if you call this blogging)

4 days into my new job.

Social anxiety and personal insecurities are at an all-time high. The situation is probably a bit better than the way it feels (it just has to be)... My stomach is constantly churning--when will my new co-workers figure out how much I actually don't know? I just know they'll find me out for the impostor that I am.

Beginning a new job reminds me of pursuing a girl--a total roller coaster of emotions... excitement-- terror-- calm-- diarrhea (I know, diarrhea is not actually an emotion)-- peace-- anxiety-- sleepiness-- restlessness-- "I can do this... what's the worst that could happen?"-- "oh, right, that's the worst that can happen... and I'm not sure I can do this." At least with a new job, I'm not worried about that first kiss and not burning her socks.

You can (do it).

Maybe you could get one of those mustache and glasses get-up, so if they find you out, you will have a disguise ready.

You only don't know alot about the specific thing that they know alot about. They have spent a last few years learning the stuff that you don't know, so thinking that you would know that information is silly.

Don't sweat that stuff, the real question is, can you learn the material that you need to know? From your PhD, the answer would seem to be "yes"

Pursing the girl was worth it in the end - this may be too. Only time will tell. Relax, give yourself a break. If you knew it all in one week, what would be left to learn?!

Oh, we just re-read the Donkey/socks story. Any Yajeev that can get out of that situation can handle anything!

Relax my friend...
I'm sure you'll look back at this a couple of months from now and laugh at how worried you were.
If I can do a Co-IP (which I just did) despite there being 3 western blots involved and beads and all that crap, then you can do anything!
