Missing Link

I recently attended a lecture delivered by one of the preeminent biochemists in the country. He was discussing the 'evolutionary relationship' between two similar species.

In describing the 'distance' between these two species, he declared them to be "tens of millions of years apart." Then he added, in light of the recent 'Intelligent Design' controversey in the school board of Dover, Pennsylvania, "That is, of course, unless you live in Pennsylvania. Then they're less than 5000 years apart."

The crowd laughed heartily. Especially this guy who strikingly resembled a giant monkey.
